Celebrate the New Year on a motorhome hire holiday in Europe

Enjoy New Year in warmer climates with a motorhome break.

With Winter confidently here, the weather has turned and the cold is drawing in, it’s a perfect time to think about visiting somewhere warmer, and why not do it in a motorhome! We all love England, but at Winter it gets seriously cold, and the dark nights and frosty mornings are not always what you want to see. So let’s take a look at some of the great locations in Europe you can visit in a motorhome where the weather is, shall we say, a little bit friendlier.

One place that has a warmer climate than England and isn’t to far away is France! Home to croissants and fine wine, France is just a stones throw from the south coast of England and while winter can still be cold in the north of France, down south the weather is much nicer. The French love to do things in style and New Year is no different, they call it ‘la Saint-Sylvestre’ and it’s celebrated with a feast known as le Réveillon de la Saint-Sylvestre, which basically means you get to eat lots of great food, and drink lots of champagne.

Paris plays host to a spectacular fireworks display on New Years all centred around the Eiffel Tower. It all sounds pretty good to me, and with a motorhome hire New Years break in France you can experience it too!

Belgium is also close by to the south coast of England and while its not much warmer in Winter, you’ll still be able to soak up all the atmosphere. New Year in Belgium is known as ‘Sint Sylvester Vooranvond’ and everyone gets involved in celebrating the New Year. While Belgium mostly treats New Year as a family event, there is likely to be plenty going on in the city of Brussels in the main square where they usually hold a nice fireworks display.
