The smallest of the motor home types is the van conversion. These motor homes are built on an existing van body like a Ford Transit or similar size vehicle. They are many advantages to a van conversion motor home, they offer great mobility and manevourability due to their standard chassis and body sizes. They are also cheaper on fuel and travel expenses and come in a variety of styles and classes.
With a van conversion motor home you don’t get as much interior space but this is the trade off when compared to a Coachbuilt of Integrated motorhome, which both are much more expensive to hire, buy or run.
The two main styles of van conversion motor home are the Hightop models and the Rising roof models.
The Hightop motor home is a specially converted van with an extended roof area meaning that standing is much easier in the motor home. These models are often referred to as a camper or campervan.
The Rising roof type allows you to pitch the roof of the van giving you extra room inside the living area while still keeping a low profile when driving on the road.
Van conversion are a great motor home for couples or smaller travelling parties, and you have the benefit of having little or no restrictions on where you can park or stay due to the smaller overall size of the motor home.
