Getting to Cornwall in a Motorhome by road

The M4, M5 and M6 motorway network has made it very easy to drive to Cornwall in a Motorhome, there are two excellent dual carriageways, the A30 and A38 which stretch all the way to Carland Cross, Mitchell and almost to Penzance. To Get to Cornwall on the Motorway you need to Follow the M5 towards Exeter, you then have a choice of the A30 or A38 right into Cornwall and you need to look at the Map as which route you take into Cornwall will depend on your final destination. There are some alternative routes into Cornwall but we would advise you to take these options.

Driving a Motorhome in Cornwall

Cornwall is a very popular tourist resort and because of this the roads can be very congested during peak holiday times, one of the worst areas is around the Bodmin Moor area at Temple where traffic can back up considerably, especially at the weekend. If you are on a motorhome holiday why not drive later at night or outside peak rush hours during the day to make your journey less hassle.

Parking a Motorhome in Cornwall

When it comes to parking up your motorhome hire vehicle there are a few things to take note of - Truro is the main town in Cornwall and all car parks get full, spaces are small and it is very busy. You can use the Council's park and ride schemes at the height of the holiday season as an easier option. Check the local councils website for updates as the park and ride venues can change each year, in the past the park and ride has been run from the football ground and the Old Cattle Market.
